DJ Leclair
STUDIO PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER
For humans with stories and faces —
Hi, I’m DJ. I photograph people. I film people. I teach them how to stand up straight.
Based on the rugged, rain-kissed coastline of Halfmoon Bay, BC, I run a studio where I shoot both digital and black & white film — the kind you develop by hand, in the dark, whispering sweet nothings to your chemicals. It’s slow. It’s messy. It’s weirdly satisfying.
My work is part portrait, part profile, all about people — their stories and their quirks. Whether it’s a single image or a full video narrative, I’m chasing honesty. Not perfection, not polish — just that one breath where someone forgets the camera is there and shows up.
I also teach yoga in the Iyengar tradition, helping people get back into their bodies. Across everything I do — photography, film, yoga — the common thread is movement. Not the flashy kind, but the quiet kind: the slow transformations, the soft pivots, the stories that shape us.
Right now, I’m working on themes of place, purpose, and personal reinvention. I love collaborating with people and organizations who care about reconnection — with the natural world, with themselves, and with the communities they serve.
Show up. Be curious. Stay honest. Make space for magic.
